This is without a doubt the best general chemistry text I've seen. It is brief and to the point (unlike Kotz & Treichel, for example) but it doesn't gloss over the tougher ideas (like Brown, LeMay, Bursten) and you come away with a very thorough understanding of basic chemistry, more so than I would have thought possible after using other introductory books.But most importantly, it is an excellent problem solving book, that with some work will give you everything you need to do great in more advanced classes. The many examples are clearly explained and well-chosen, and will take you through the whole range of end-of-chapter problems.Excellent for any 1-st year, science-major oriented course, and the best for self study/thorough review. I highly recommend the solutions manual, too. It works through the solutions with the same quality as the book examples, in case you have any lingering confusion.

I bought this book to try to teach myself Chemistry (I am not taking a class). So far, it is working great!

This book is so succinct and provides both basic and advanced General Chemistry knowledge! I helped me get through the MCAT & on to Med School!

For school. Cheaper than school price.

Needed for a class by my son....says it was what he needed. It's chemistry!
