I love watching David Childress on TV. He raises important questions and comes across as someone with whom you'd really enjoy having fascinating conversations. He also has a great, distinctive voice, and would make a terrific narrator. I especially liked that his premise in this book was not "aliens gave us technology", but rather "we (ancient civilizations of mankind) developed the technologies, and then bombed each other back into the Stone Age, from which we (modern man) are now emerging again."I urge Mr. Childress to re-issue this interesting book in a second edition, and have a professional editor go through it and improve the presentation. A few of the problems:- None of the photographs and diagrams are attributed. Each needs to include a caption that cites the source.- The publisher skimped on page margins. Please, add margins.- Replace all the exclamation marks with periods. Especially if the intent is to be taken seriously.- The bibliography is not arranged in the order in which the works are cited in the text.- Many of the photographs in the text are repeated at the end of each chapter. Delete the redundancies.- At least two books are cited twice (each) in the bibliography.- People's names are misspelled (is it Robin Collyns or Robyn Collins? - can't be both!), as are some book titles ("Laser Beams" is not interchangeable with "Laserbeams").- Do not take up entire pages quoting from specific works. Summarize the material and use a few choice quotes.- Choose either "mankind" or "humankind", and use that one term consistently. Honestly, we women do not have a problem with the word "mankind"; we have a problem with inconsistencies. With a little pulling-together, this book could have a professional look and sound. After all, firm footing and credibility are what the author is striving for.
I do not normally review books that I have purchased and read but this one definitely is deserving of a review. My overall impression of this author is that he is lazy and just cobbled together large excerpts from many other publications and books and spent precious little time actually presenting his own unified interpretation or unique ideas. The author did not just quote specific passages from other works nor did he bother to elaborate much on the work that he quoted, his writing style if you can call it that was to lift entire chapters wholesale from other's work, starting off by crediting the original author but ultimately leading the reader to believe it was his own work. The end result was to be a very difficult to follow and confusing publication mixing the writing styles of many different authors from many different eras which proved difficult to follow. I am a big Christopher Dunn supporter and have read his books yet this author just lifted entire chapters from his books without so much as trying to tie them into the ideas he leads the reader to believe he is going to address. In the rare moments where he actually does quote an author, (specifically Christopher Dunn) he gets the information wrong. The book is rife with typographical errors to the point that I do not believe that an editor or proof reader ever bothered to review the publication. Overall, this book is a complete disappointment and was a waste of my time to read. I was ever hopeful that the book would improve so I stuck it out to the end, but when I got to the chapters on The Giza Power Plant and Ancient Atomic War, I was completely let down and realized this book was a complete waste.
I saw the author on the show Ancient Aliens and I decided to check out his writing. I feared it would be a lot of the same information I have read on other books of the same topic but I was Wrong. I love how some things are let open to my own interpretation I saw more ancient battery's than just the Baghdad battery, and there is another really cool chapter on ancient plumbing I found wonderfully fascinating. I will definitely check other books by this author.
This is another book by David Hatcher Childress but on a more serious and involved subject than the book about SW North America. In this book Mr Childress gives us information about the astounding technology of really early civilizations. If you are ready to realize that there were highly involved cultures before us you will enjoy this book. Are we the first to have electricity, flight, atomic energy, and other technology that we consider "Modern"? Read this book for the truth as presented by Mr. Childress.
I purchased this book because I found the show "Ancient Aliens" interesting and was expecting more scientific analyses of ancient technologies and well thought-out theories. I was sorely disappointed. This book takes many leaps in logic, and isn't even interesting to read. There are also some editorial errors, such as a whole paragraph being repeated in the middle of itself, which causes me to suspect it was produced with no real care. I could't even finish it. I stopped at where it made the assumption that because there is glass in the dessert the ancients of course had atomic bombs. My final evaluation: this book is a load of malarky, and it's going in the "donate" box.
Just like all of David Hatcher Childress' books, chock full of information, ideas, quotes from other authors. Small b&w images from history, as well as lots of photographs that are hard to discern. An interesting read before bedtime. -- Not an adventure book like the rest of his.
I was totally engrossed in this book from the first word. Wow is all I got to say! Dave Childress really researched the daylights out of ancient gods and presented nothing but the bald truth from the ruins of South America, Egypt, India and beyond. Facts, figures, and drawings and whatever else you need to know about the ancient cultures and you can't help but to agree that our planet was visited and worked with to create some of the most fascinating structures, possibly weapons and what is totally unreal is flying saucers and vehicles!
